Technigent was contacted by a large textile company with manufacturing units spread across various locations to develop a centralized system to facilitate their business needs. The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that Technigent developed for them streamlined their entire process, from purchases to production to sales.
Technigent tailored the ERP system to meet the specific needs of the textile business. Before Technigent, this textile company had no common system to keep track of information. Important data was stored in disparate locations, which made accessing key insights difficult. For example, when a client inquired about a product, the lack of available data about past rates and production costs resulted in delayed correspondence. This slowed the entire process down and reduced business as a whole.
The ERP system includes an automated production cost tracking report and imports all past rates to an organized and easily accessible location. Arguably the most important facet of the ERP system is that it is collaborative and keeps everyone in the loop, providing complete oversight through automated reports to senior management. Whenever a sales order is processed, it automatically goes to senior management, who now has the ability to approve or reject orders without delay.
During the textile manufacturing process, materials often elongate or shrink. Prior to the implementation of the ERP system, there was no proper method for tracking material changes, and thus no way to estimate the final amount of a given production line. The ERP system provided the ability for them to record how specific fabrics are naturally altered during the process, so they’ll know when more materials are needed and when they’ll have extra to sell. The ERP system also keeps track of material stocks. When supplies cross the minimum threshold, it delivers an automated re-order report to the necessary users. It also monitors interplant transfers of materials and manpower, so management is always informed where things are and where more items are needed. As a result of the ERP system’s central data repository, responses to inquiries were faster and more accurate. The system’s dashboards and automated reports made it easy for management to track KPIs and monitor developments from multiple plant locations. Pricing and taxation numbers became easy to calculate while materials could be tracked through the entire process.
